Speech Night
Thanks to all for your participation at a memorable Speech Night. Farewell to Ms Imelda Spence and welcome to our new Head of Junior School – Mr Peter Gazzola
We farewelled Ms Spence at an assembly and a recent staff function, offering our thanks for her leadership of White Rock Junior School in the second half of Semester 2. We will miss you, Ms Spence.
We welcome Mr Peter Gazzola to the role of Head of Junior School, White Rock for 2018.
I have taught previously with Peter, and thus have direct knowledge of his outstanding approach towards innovation and curriculum. Peter is highly regarded in the educational community and a driving force for understanding and developing strategies for improving student learning and engagement in the 21st Century. He has presented at conferences such as at the 3rd NZ IWBNet Conference, Auckland on flipped learning, the Computelec Conference in Lorne, Victoria on approaches to online and blended learning, and at John Paul College, Brisbane on multimedia as the prism of engagement for Middle Year’s students. He has a Masters in Education and is currently in a leadership role in the Anglican Schools Innovations Network. Most significantly, as Director of Innovation, Peter has created and driven the Year 9 “Connections” program at St Andrew’s Anglican College, a successful and highly emulated program where Year 9 students learn in a variety of different environments in Brisbane, Melbourne and Stradbroke Island – read more here. Peter has previously been a successful Deputy Principal and an acting Principal in Primary schools in Victoria before moving north. We are very excited to have an educational leader of his calibre leading our White Rock Junior School in 2018.
