As part of the Prep to Year 6 curriculum, students participate in a compulsory swimming program that promotes the importance of physical education, health and wellbeing in a fun and new environment.

All primary-aged students swim from February through to November at the White Rock Campus at the TAS Aquatic Centre, and at the Kewarra Beach Campus at an alternative aquatic centre.

The TAS Aquatic Centre also hosts a Learn to Swim Program, catering to children as young as 3 years old right through to adults.

The role of Learn to Swim Instructor will work across the programs as required, as part of the TAS Aquatic Team.

Do you have: 

  • Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Qualification
  • Pool Lifeguard Certificate (Desirable)
  • Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011) or Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting (HLTAID012)
  • Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (HLTAID009)

Are you a team member who can: 

Under the supervision of the Coordinator:

  • Provide water safety lessons including:
    • how to self-rescue
    • buddy up
    • know your limits
    • swim in safe areas only
    • be careful about diving
    • how to recognise and prepare for situations around water
    • how to get help
  • Teach students correct swimming stroke technique.
  • Assist with pool maintenance and cleaning.
  • Assist with other activities as required.

Community Engagement Officer (Full Time)

The Community Engagement Officer is responsible for growing community engagement through events and initiatives that align with the TAS Marketing and Admissions Strategy and the TAS Strategic Plan.   • Experience with project managing and running events
  • Experience in preparation and execution of project plans and budgets

  • Participate in staff development days, Outdoor Education Programs, Year Level Information Evenings, Parent Teacher Interviews, Principal’s Welcome Evenings and Speech Night.
  • Encourage students to take responsibility for their own actions and ensure they are aware of the need to show respect for others in interpersonal relationships and maintain confidentiality.
  • Lead by example and provide a positive, mature, professional approach for students to emulate.
  • Take a proactive role in the spiritual development of students.
  • Be aware of special/additional needs, cultural, linguistic, religious, gender, language diversities and socio-economic differences and treat each child with dignity and respect.
  • Actively support the school’s Behaviour Management procedures, insist on acceptable standards of behaviour and manage behavioural issues in line with policy.
