From Cairns to Hollywood – TAS Student Kane O’Rielley heads to LA

Date: October 23, 2017    Posted by: Alana Ripepi

THANK YOU TO THE CAIRNS POST FOR THIS STORY – 21 OCTOBER 2017

Kane 1

KANE O’Rielley will have something in common with Hollywood greats Danny DeVito, Robert Redford and Anne Hathaway when he begins a two-year course at the American Academy of Dramatic Art in Los Angeles next year.

The Trinity Anglican School Year 12 student thought he would use the extensive application process, which included essays, two monologues and an interview in Sydney, as practice for the future.

He could not believe it when he was granted a place.

“I’m very excited for it, it is going to definitely be a wonderful experience,” Kane said.

“To start off I was extremely nervous. The biggest thing will be being able to immerse myself into the entertainment industry over there.”

Kane has visited New York and San Francisco but LA offers a new adventure.

Every student at AADA is expected to be proficient in singing, dancing and acting.

Kane said he hoped to hire an agent and a manager and gain as much work experience as possible in the US but did not rule out returning home for acting jobs.
