Congratulations to our Outdoor Education team, who have been recognised with two national awards and a finalist nomination at the National Outdoor Education Australia Awards. The awards were presented at the 23rd National Outdoor Education Conference, proudly hosted at TAS from 28 September to 1 October.
The recognition
- Winner, National Exemplary Program Award: TAS Outdoor Education Program
- Winner, National Service to Outdoor Education Award: Darren Osmond, TAS Head of Experiential Learning
- Finalist, Emerging Practitioner Award: Mia Blashki, TAS Outdoor Education teacher
Together, this recognition reflects every layer of what makes our program strong: a well-established whole-of-school program, longstanding leadership, and the emerging practitioners who bring it to life for our students each week.
Darren said the recognition reflects the collective effort behind the program.
“To have the program recognised alongside both established and emerging practitioners is particularly meaningful because Outdoor Education at TAS has always been a team effort,” Darren said.
Our program runs from Year 1 through to Year 12, with experiences that build in challenge as students move through the school. Across their time at TAS, a typical student spends around 54 days developing through Outdoor Education experiences, with further opportunities through the Outdoor Recreation and Leadership program, Duke of Edinburgh Award and international expeditions.
Being named a national finalist is a terrific achievement for Mia and a reflection of the depth of expertise across our Outdoor Education team.
