Just a reminder – keep up to date with what’s happening. Lots of news from TAS is posted on the official Facebook page: Trinity Anglican School, Cairns.
TAS P & F
Thanks to the wonderful P & F for catering for the GAQA day at TAS last Saturday. The Get Active Queensland Accreditation scheme allows coaches to receive expert training as we hosted a large number of community sporting coaches at our White Rock campus. The P & F worked away behind the scenes and produced a wonderful spread for those in attendance, raising funds for our school. They have recently done the same for Peninsula Cross Country and will be at again for Peninsula Rugby. Thanks ladies and kids!
Men’s breakfast
I had a terrific time on Saturday morning chatting with a group of men at All Saints, Gordonvale. As many of you would know, TAS falls within the parish of Gordonvale and the rector, Rev’d Ian Lindsay, is a great supporter of TAS. Both he and I are keen to continue to grow the relationship between the Anglican Church and TAS. We had a very hearty breakfast in the Church Hall and then spent some time talking about education, Anglicanism and the challenges facing today’s youth. They were very interested about TAS and I felt very proud explaining to them how terrific our kids are.
Queensland Schoolboy Selection
Congratulations to Josh Fowler on his selection into the Queensland U/19 Schoolboys Hockey team to tour New Zealand. Well done Josh.
Community Service
Congratulations to Isabella and Georgia Clague on their tree planting with Mulgrave Landcare. The Mulgrave Landcare Committee were recently in touch and wrote: “Isabella and Georgia toiled for several hours last Sunday afternoon. They joined other volunteers and helped plant over 1300 trees, fertilized, and even lugged much needed soil to each plant site. They were great team workers.” Love this community spirit and commitment to serving others. Well done girls.
Trinity Day
What an amazing day. Thank you to Bishop Bill for leading our Trinity Day Service. It was a wonderful celebration of our school community and acknowledgement of all those who, over the years, have contributed to our terrific school. Congratulations to our Spirit of TAS winners: Elangi Cuttance, Myuri Gopalapillai, and Takuma Konno. Also regarding the Dash and the Tug’o’War, congratulations to…… (to be announced next week).
Year 5 Camp
What a terrific camp site and environment for our Year 5s. It was great to see so many smiling faces at Lake Tinaroo on Wednesday night. Not sure making me responsible for applying the chocolate sauce to the desert was such a good idea though (quite a bit of spillage ensued)! Thanks to our terrific outdoor education staff (Mr Osmond, Ms Beveridge, Hugh, Jo and Mike) and our Year 5 teachers who work so hard to make our outdoor education program a truly enjoyable and highly enjoyable experience.
