Child Safety and Reportable Conduct
At TAS, the safety, wellbeing and best interests of every child come first. We are committed to preventing, detecting and responding to any form of child harm, because every child has the right to be safe, and to feel safe.
To support this commitment, the School maintains a range of child safety and reportable conduct policies, procedures and supporting documentation. These guide our community in recognising, reporting and responding to concerns, with clear processes for documenting incidents, disclosures, suspicions and allegations of harm. Every step is designed to ensure concerns are managed promptly and consistently, in line with legislative and regulatory requirements, and to support a culture of transparency, accountability and genuine protection for children and young people.
All adults in Queensland, including staff, parents, guardians and students over the age of 18, should be aware that under the Criminal Code Act 1899 (Qld), ‘failure to protect a child from a sexual offence’ (section 229BB) and ‘failure to report belief of a child sexual offence committed in relation to a child’ (section 229BC) are criminal offences.
