Each year TAS welcomes International students on short and long- term exchange programs that help to form International friendships including:
TAS Tourist Visa Program – The TAS Tourist Visa Program offers Short Stay, Extended and Study Tours for international students who wish to experience and learn about Tropical North Queensland’s culture, establish international friendships and improve their English language skills.
Extended Visiting Students – Students studying for a minimum of six weeks to a maximum of three months, have the opportunity to be immersed in the uniqueness of school life at TAS, to improve their English, make lasting friends, and experience the true Australian culture.
Short Stay Students – (Individuals visiting for up to 6 weeks) – Sometimes students want to get a taste of school life in another country while they travel on their own or with their family. This program offers that taste in a supported environment.
Study Tour – (Group bookings up to 100 people) This is an opportunity to come to school in a group and experience a combination of study and fun. While here, students will see the amazing reef and rainforest in the region.
TAS Student Visa Program – The TAS student Visa Program encourages students to strive for educational excellence with the aim to maximise their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). This result is used to allow entrance into tertiary institutions both in Australian and overseas. TAS offers the program to fully enrolled individual Junior and Senior School students attending TAS on a student visa. TAS requires evidence that the applicant’s academic ability and English proficiency is sufficient to successfully meet the entry and curriculum demands of the intended course, as a requirement under the 2018 National Code of Practice, Part B Standard 2. TAS accepts enrolments from International students in the following CRICOS registered courses:
Primary School Studies P to 6 (CRICOS Course No 085320C): Junior students are introduced to a core curriculum offering English, Mathematics, Sciences and Social Studies. Highly trained specialist teachers guide students in Visual Art, Music, Health and Physical Education and Language subjects. The Primary School Course is offered at both the White Rock and Kewarra Beach Campuses.
Junior Secondary Studies 7 to 10 (CRICOS Course No 085321B): Areas of study on offer cater for the academic needs and interests of all students and include English, Mathematics, the Sciences, the Humanities, the Arts, Languages, and Technologies.
Senior Secondary Studies 11 to 12 (CRICOS Course No 085322A): At this stage of their schooling students are well equipped and supported to choose subjects that suit their skills and abilities as well as complementing their future goals. Students are encouraged to seek further study at universities or colleges. All students are to study towards attaining a QCE (Queensland Certificate of Education) and for those wanting to attend a University an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank) is required.
