Frequently Asked Questions (COVID 19)
Please find below the answers to some of the frequently asked questions. We will keep this list updated as we receive them.
Communications
Please expect regular communications from us during this time and through the following channels:
Whole school announcements: From the Principal via email and COVID-19 information hub.
School-specific information: Will come directly from the Deputy Principal and/or Director of Innovation, Teaching and Learning and the Heads of Junior School and where applicable updated to the hub
WRS Subject-Specific Information- Will be communicated from the Heads of Faculty or individual teachers when necessary.
Senior Assessment
The QCAA has announced that one of the three Internal Assessments in each Year 12 subject will not be required this year (IA#2 or IA#3). IA#1 has already been completed by TAS students.
“After considering a range of scenarios and possible responses, along with feedback from students, parents, teachers and the wider school community, the QCAA Board resolved that an immediate response is required to alleviate the stresses being felt in school communities. We have decided to remove one internal assessment from the total of four prescribed in each syllabus.
In the next few weeks, the QCAA will provide schools with direction on how they should adjust what is taught and the nature and timing of other assessments.
We will keep our Year 12 families up to date with any changes or announcements from the QCAA and how that impacts their student.
Experiencing technical difficulties
If your child is experiencing technical difficulties please contact the TAS IT department at helpdesk@tas.qld.edu.au
Cybersafety
We encourage all parents to review the cyber safety information included in the Remote Learning Plan. We will be providing regular updates once the remote learning program gets underway and the needs arise. With most students spending increased time online it is important that cyber safety is revisited regularly.
