Junior School Teacher

Full-Time – Fixed Term Contract 25 May 2020 – 31 December 2020

White Rock Campus

This vibrant co-educational school is looking for a bright, self-motivated and energetic person to become part of our team.

Qualifications, experience, and licenses

  • Bachelor of Education or appropriate tertiary/teaching qualification
  • a current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain) and
  • a current CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

Working with children suitability checks   

To be successfully employed at TAS a candidate will:

  • be screened via the Anglican School’s National Register
  • hold a Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) Registration
  • undertake Child Protection Training

Primary Responsibilities

  • develop, plan, implement and evaluate age-appropriate programs and “best practice” curriculum for the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of the students
  • encourage students to be lifelong learners
  • arrange equipment, furniture and consumable materials for students
  • maintain all school records; assess, record and report on student progress
  • in consultation with the Head of Junior School, manage student behaviour
  • attend staff, faculty and professional learning sessions as required
  • supervise all indoor and outdoor play areas to ensure safe practices as per staff roster
  • encourage students to take responsibility for their own actions 
  • take a proactive role in the spiritual development of students, this includes teaching Christian and Values Education (CAVE) if required
  • liaise with and support parents and actively encourage parent involvement
  • be punctual to classes, playground duties, assemblies, Chapel services, and staff meetings
  • clearly articulate action to be taken in the case of emergencies
  • participate in staff development days, Outdoor Education Programs, Year Level Information Evenings, Student-led Conferences, Principal’s Welcome Evenings, Excursions, Musical Productions, and Co-curricular activities.

  • Knowledge of the Art and Science of Teaching (ASOT) by Robert Marzano and Essential Skills of Classroom Management (ESCM).
  • The ability to create strategies that engage students with a variety of learning abilities in the required disciplines, coupled with excellent time management skills.
  • An ability to be innovative and integrate technology into teaching.
  • Be professionally engaged in the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (AITSL) with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Swimming Coach

Trinity Anglican School (TAS) is a leading co-educational Independent Anglican school with an unrivaled reputation for excellence that offers all primary school students, from Prep to Year 6, year-round swimming lessons as part of the curriculum. In addition, TAS hosts the region’s premier competitive swimming club that trains daily.

TAS is seeking an experienced energetic swim coach who can:

  • Deliver Junior School swimming classes at both White Rock and Kewarra Beach campuses, teaching a range of abilities from absolute beginners in a Learn To Swim environment to coaching accomplished swimmers in Years 5 and 6;
  • Coach extra-curricular squads (developmental/regional standard through to a National Age level) after school as an assistant to our Director of Swimming;
  • Assist with carnivals; and
  • Assist with facility maintenance and cleaning.

The successful candidate will have:

  • a Development Coaching qualification
  • desirable – a background in competitive swimming
  • a suitable First Aid Certificate
  • a ‘Blue Card’
