Reporting directly to the Head of Primary School, are you a team player who… 

  • Implement programs for the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of the children. 
  • Prepare and maintain materials required for the daily program. 
  • Supervise all indoor and outdoor play areas to ensure healthy and safe practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality in respect of children and their parents.  
  • Be aware of additional needs, cultural, linguistic, religious, gender, language diversities and socio-economic differences and treat each child with dignity and respect.
  • Work as part of the team to achieve centre aims and objectives. 
  • Contribute to the development of a QIP. 
  • Liaise with and support parents and actively encourage parent involvement.
  • Experience with nature-based learning would be an advantage.

  • supervise all indoor and outdoor play areas to ensure safe practices as per staff roster 
  • encourage students to take responsibility for their own actions 
  • take a proactive role in the spiritual development of students, this includes teaching Christian and Values Education (CAVE) if required
  • maintain confidentiality 
  • be aware of special/additional needs, cultural, linguistic, religious, gender, language diversities and socio-economic differences and treat each child with dignity and respect
  • assist in the development of policies and procedures 
  • liaise with and support parents and actively encourage parent involvement
  • be punctual to classes, playground duties, assemblies, Chapel services, and staff meetings
  • clearly articulate action to be taken in the case of emergencies 
  • participate in staff development days, Outdoor Education Programs, Year Level Information Evenings, Student-led Conferences, Principal’s Welcome Evenings, Excursions, Musical Productions and Co-curricular activities.

Primary responsibilities under the supervision of the Coordinator:

  • Provide water safety lessons including:
  • how to self-rescue
  • buddy up
  • know your limits
  • swim in safe areas only
  • be careful about diving
  • how to recognise and prepare for situations around water
  • how to get help
  • Teach students correct swimming stroke technique
  • Assist with pool maintenance and cleaning
  • Assist with other activities as require

The successful candidate will have:

  • Teacher of Swimming and water Safety Qualification
  • HLTAID004 Certificate
  • Provide Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting
  • HLTAID001 Certificate
  • Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Can apply the fundamentals of confidentiality when dealing with children, parents and staff. 
  • Can ensure the safety and well-being of our children at the service.
