About the program

It is not about whether you win or lose – it’s about how we play the game! While the thrill of competition and victory is an important part of playing any sport, our goal is to encourage a life-long interest in fitness, as well as pride in having done your best.

While TAS students and teams delight in winning, we encourage students to keep the sport in the right perspective. Coaching methods concentrate on teaching correct techniques and ‘playing the game for the game’s sake’.

Students benefit both socially and physically as they develop essential skills and build confidence and sportsmanship.

Representative Sport

The TAS Sports program is also a pathway for representative sport. We have a proud history of nurturing players at all levels, including:

  • Interschool Representation – Local School Competitions in Cairns and the Far North
  • Regional Representation – Trinity Coast South (TCS) District Trials
  • State Representation – Peninsula Sports State Trials
  • National Representation – National level competitions and trials

When students surpass the national level, they qualify for Olympic trials.
